Anxiety

Thoughts

What are you thinking about? Maybe it could be your past or future but what good it would do you if it doesn’t matter the next few minutes or the next few weeks. Your past can’t be changed, and your future has yet to come so whatever you are thinking about could change but if it is inevitable then prepare to embrace it when it comes (easier said than done). What trigger these thoughts? Do you know? If you don’t know then it is absolutely critical that you know, it could be a smell, one random thought can lead to overthinking that causes anxiety or it could be a song and many more. The real question is, are you prepared for future anxiety attacks?

What Should You Do

First, know that not everything I write will work for you some might work and others wouldn’t. Control your breathing, ever notice that your breathing becomes faster? Try breathing in for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds and breathe out for 5 seconds(I got this from a Jay Shetty podcast) until you think you are calm this helps stimulates the brain making it easier to relax, to make this more effective play music that calms you. This one I made up myself, ask yourself why until you can’t ask why anymore and for this to really work you need to be honest with yourself. For example ‘Why am I depressed?’, because the person you loved betrayed you, ‘Why is it bothering you or why is it affecting you?’ Every person will have their own individual reason depending on the relationship or the person who was betrayed. Write your thoughts down on paper or type it on any of the devices you are currently using, read it over as if somebody is telling you it’s their problem and whatever answer you come up with, take it, apply it and if it works nice but if it doesn’t work then that method isn’t for you and try something else instead of giving up!! Another thing we do when we overthink we mostly about the bad but why? Because it is easier to believe than the good, well I am sure you weren’t going to reach this far but yet here you are still that is something good right. Once you are alive, your goals are realistic then you can more than think about the good. One step is better than none no matter how small because any of those small steps can change your life, for example, when I am writing blogs, to me it is a small step but I never ever thought I could have made a website at 16 so the website is a big thing to me but the blogs are small steps for me.

Your Past

Get this in your head, your past is irreversible. Can’t change it no matter how you think about it, maybe your thinking but I could have done things differently and things would be better, let me ask you this question ‘For how long?’. We make mistakes and when we overthink we should stop thinking about what we could have done and start thinking about what will we do when the situation comes again and trust me it will come again and again until you learn your lesson so you have time. I know your past has hurt you but you lived to tell the story to somebody who might feel inspired by it, I remember it had times that I thought I wouldn’t recover from and would always thought about it which made me experience chest pains. Some months after I fully recovered from it and I’m better from the experience, take as much time as you need but not too much time. Cry if you need to, don’t look at yourself as a weak person because you cried. Slow down your thoughts and try to look at what is in front of you rather than what was and you should reduce your overthinking, if you catch yourself overthinking ask yourself if this would be relevant tomorrow if your answer is no then let the thoughts flow and just watch them come and go as long as you keep pushing for a better tomorrow.

Your Future

Thinking about your future alone bring anxiety because you don’t know what will happen. Parents pressure some of their children telling them that they should have their future planned out, I mean you can but not in detail because anything could happen to change any small detail. Think about tomorrow and you will miss today. If you want a better tomorrow you must first fix it today, ever heard that your habits decide your future? If you didn’t know well now you know. So what habits do you have? Are they good, bad or both? Now remember that all your habits can’t be all good, I don’t think that’s possible because it will have times you will procrastinate or slack off and that’s good in a way because you need rest. If you prepare today for tomorrow then you could relax knowing you tried your hardest to embrace tomorrow. If you keep thinking about tomorrow it will never come, when tomorrow comes then it will be called ‘today’. Keep this in mind, you are the only one who decides your future don’t let other people tell you otherwise because whose life is it?
